Anxiety and the toll technology takes on our nervous system
I started experiencing anxiety for the first time in my adult life in 2020.
Having to constantly pay attention to what was happening in the world, so many unknowns, and our family's move and plans drastically changing, took a toll on my nervous system.
While there was much beauty happening in our life simultaneously I quickly realized how social media and too much technology in general - were a slippery slope for me.
I began to create guardrails for myself and pulled away from being “online” every day.
For the last few years, I have taken 2-3 days off social and all technology every week. Sometimes more. And it's been so very good for me.
My peace returned. My mind is still. And I recognize how silencing the external noise allows me to stay grounded and connected to my own energy.
Not to mention how much more creative and productive I am simultaneously.
We must remember in this age of AI we live in we were not designed for the constant information and opinions, streaming into our consciousness.
It affects our mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Not to mention our relationships.
We must be mindful of how much time and energy we unconsciously waste.
And learn to put this app and whatever others you use in their rightful place.
Which for me is pretty low on my priority and value list.
Like anything that we do every day - it can quickly become an addiction, distraction, and unconscious consumption.
Cutting it out cold turkey isn't the answer for me because of the amazing souls I get to know and serve by being here.
If you are struggling with anxiety or just desiring more time, presence, productivity, or peace- I encourage you to look where you are leaking or absorbing energy that's out of alignment with where or who you want to be.
